Safety Information and Risk Acknowledgement

As with any outdoor activity, there are hazards associated with Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited activities. It is important for the safety of everyone taking part that each participant and visitor is acquainted with those hazards and individually takes all relevant action to minimise those hazards as much as possible.

I Understand That:

  • All participants and visitors using any facilities made available, or taking part in any activity, must adhere to all instructions, rules, regulations, policies and signage for the wellbeing of themselves and others.
  • The outdoor experience will sometimes include activities at alternative locations. All Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited’s usual standards of care and supervision apply. Transport between locations may be by minibus driven by licensed and trained Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited staff.
  • Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited staff will take all reasonable care of every visitor and participant. Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited accepts no responsibility for any illness or personal injury whilst they are at any facilities or attending any outdoor experience provided by Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited, except in the case of proven negligence on the part of Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited and for this purpose Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited carries mandatory third party cover for the activities carried out.
  • Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited is covered by public liability insurance policies and adheres to Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited policies and guidelines.
  • In respect of water activities:
    • Participants may get wet and cold at times, and may be splashed or entering water unintentionally during a water-based activity, or intentionally as part of the structure of a water-based activity.
    • Water can be dangerous, including a risk of water-borne diseases. If anyone experiences flu-like symptoms within two weeks of participating in water-based activity, we recommend visiting your GP and stating you have been in a natural water environment.
  • Cars are parked at the owner’s own risk.
  • Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited does not accept responsibility for valuables lost or damaged during activities or at the activity sites.

I Confirm and Agree That:

  • I have no physical or medical condition that would prevent me from taking part in the planned activities. If I am unable to swim 25m in light clothing then I have notified Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited in writing.
  • I have also notified to Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited in writing, details of any existing medical conditions experienced by me and any condition which may affect my ability to take part in the outdoor experience. If I am in doubt then I will contact Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited well in advance of the visit to discuss the nature of any condition in question, at surreyhillsandrivers@gmail.com.
  • I have in particular notified Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited if it is the case that I am immunocompromised (or will notify Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited should this become the case at any time after booking).
  • I am aware that I am not able to join the camp until the end of any exclusion period as set out in the Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited Illness and Accidents policy, in respect of infectious diseases. This includes an exclusion period of 24 hours in respect of a high temperature and 48 hours after the last episode of any vomiting or diarrhoea.
  • Specifically, I have notified to Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited in writing, all details of any known food allergies.
  • I am fully aware of the inherent risk of these outdoor activities.
  • I will comply with the rules and use all equipment as instructed.
  • I will listen to and obey all instructions from Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited staff.
  • I will notify Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited if I do not wish to be contacted in respect of future activities offered by Surrey Hills and Rivers Limited.
  • I understand that I can withhold or withdraw my consent to the foregoing at any time by sending an email to surreyhillsandrivers@gmail.com.

I am also aware of what clothing, equipment or food that I need to bring with me as detailed below:

For all activities:

  • Large water bottle (eg. 750ml – 1.5L capacity)
  • Sun cream
  • Spare pair of old trainers/footwear that can get wet. Flip flops, ‘Crocs’, sliders and similar are not appropriate
  • Sun hat is recommended
  • Complete spare set of clothing including a jumper and long bottoms: as appropriate for prevailing weather conditions
  • Coat
  • Towel

For overnight/multiple night stays:

  • A suitable number of clothing changes (assuming no washing will be done)
  • All products required for personal health and hygiene
  • Sleeping bag or duvet
  • Pillow
